I like doing it, I get a buzz out making stuff people like and are happy with. I like to think I am doing my bit to make life a little more interesting, we can all appreciate a more colourful world...
Many people might consider it the scourge of their inbox but marketing departments love it, and the results it brings. I must admit that using table design is cumbersome, and modern web design principles are thrown out of the window, but that is what makes it fun and interesting to do.
Building websites holds many challenges, SEO considerations, Semantic mark-up, clean & lean code. Slicing up images to work in HTML & CSS is where I feel I am in my element. Starting with pen & paper first for framework, move to Photoshop and then finally coding it up are what I love to do most.
Always use Illustrator for logos, never Photoshop. I like to be able to transfer logos to printed material as well as the web but aside from flexibility I also like to spend time understanding logos. What do the words and images represent, what image do I wish to portray?
I have been asked to do print jobs quite a few times in my career and I have always enjoyed it. The difference with print is that you can actually have something at the end to hold rather than just looking at graphics in a web browser, very uplifting.
